Jim HellingJim Helling, LICSW serves as a staff psychotherapist in the Athletic Department at UMass, Amherst and maintains a private practice in Amherst specializing in complex posttraumatic and dissociative disorders. He is certified in Traumatic Stress Studies, trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and was affiliated with The Center for Post-Trauma Therapy and Education in Helsinki, Finland where he began working in the Structural Dissociation model under Onno van der Hart, PhD. While practicing in Europe, he completed Level I and Level II EMDR training. He has published and presented at international conferences on psychological trauma, dissociation, procedural information processing and body-centered approaches to treatment. In addition to his role with WMass EMDRIA, he is also the Western Mass liaison for the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, coordinating local training and workshop programs. He is enthusiastic about the ways that advances in neuroscience are informing psychotherapeutic practice and enjoys using EMDR to enhance the integration of body, mind and spirit in clinical practice.

Stephanie BairdStephanie Baird, LMHC After receiving her M.S. in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas in 1999, her first professional work involved therapy and assessment of sex offenders in Bridgewater and Framingham state prisons. Stephanie went on to provide therapy and supervision at a rape crisis and domestic violence program, an adult psychiatric inpatient unit, and in outpatient community mental health. She transitioned fully to private practice in 2011. She has published 3 research papers on vicarious trauma, secondary traumatic stress, and burnout, and the effects on rape crisis and domestic violence staff. She became EMDR trained through HAP in 2009 and certified in 2012. Stephanie is also slowing integrating existential psychotherapy theory and practice into her private practice. She is a volunteer member of the Community Crisis Response Team, has been a board member of NELCWIT, and has been part of the WMASS EMDRIA Steering Committee since September 2012, serving as Treasurer since 2013.
